Papana Cabin is a beautifully designed luxury retreat and peaceful oasis, tucked away in a quiet rural location on a working farm beside a small woodland. Blending rustic charm with modern comforts. This private cabin offers countryside views, a double bed, and your own outdoor terrace for starlit evenings — the perfect place to immerse yourself in the tranquillity of the countryside.

Only 40 minutes from Edinburgh and a short distance from the coast, it is the perfect hideaway for couples seeking tranquillity, nature, and a touch of indulgence.

Just a short walk from the cabin is the award-winning Carfrae Farm Shop and Snug, both located in beautifully converted farm barns. The shop is bursting with wonderful local and Scottish products, along with a few treats from around the globe. The Snug is a cosy space with a comfy sofa and a wood-burning stove — the perfect place to relax with a cuppa and a slice of cake from the shop.

Absolutely lovely cottage. The location, amenities and host just great. The cottage has lots of little details that make it extra special and the bed was so comfortable! A great spot for a relaxing retreat and/or exploring beautiful East Lothian.

This cottage is absolutely beautiful. Trudi has thought of absolutely everything, from little doggie biscuits to slippers and bathrobes, it really felt like a luxury hotel. We grabbed fish and chips from Dunbar and spent Saturday evening curled up in front of the TV with a glass of wine – and then I treated myself to a long soak in the huge bath tub! It was perfect and we’d highly recommend staying here

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. So peaceful, only the sounds of the birds. We had a wonderful, relaxing time there and would definitely recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was very clean and had everything we could have needed for our stay. The log fire was a real treat, as were the luxurious bath and showers. Beds were comfy and kitchen was well equipped, and the cottage was very easy to find. We had a fab day out at East Links Family Park which i’d highly recommend, and beautiful countryside. Trudi was a brilliant, communicative and helpful host – she even showed us around the farm before we left, which our toddler loved. All in all, a great find and we will definitely be back – in fact, we didn’t really want to leave!

Relaxing cosy cottage break.

This was just what we needed to step back from the day to day hubbub of city life. A gem of a discovery for us.

The cottage was immaculate and the fire was stoked ready to go.

Trudi was a great host. She was very responsive and attentive. The cottage was beautiful and was stocked with all of the necessities. It was perfectly clean and modern inside. We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay and will definitely be back!

This rental cottage was amazing. Such attention to detail above and beyond what’s expected. Modern and stylish with amazing touches like the round window in the bathroom and lighting behind the stairs banister.And the whole Bathroom was luxury! The cottage was very cozy, comfortable and chic. Fantastic. Would absolutely recommend. We hope to come back again soon.

What a beautiful cottage this is. We were blown away by the decor and cleanliness. Most of all the host, Trudi, was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, she even rescued my husband from being stranded in the snow!
We will definitely be staying again.

Trudi’s cottage was perfect for our weekend escape. The bedrooms were comfortable and well equipped, the showers and bath were amazing and the addition of extra luxuries such as robes/slippers and lovely soaps/shampoos was an added bonus. We had a lovely, relaxing weekend at the cottage. It was nice to escape the stresses of everyday life!

Directions

From the South:

Follow the A1 to the Thistly Cross Roundabout. Take the B6370 towards Garvald through Stenton. Carfrae is signposted at the entrance to Garvald and is one mile along the road on your right.

From the North:

Follow the A1 to the Abbostview Junction and leave for Haddington. Stay on the B6368 leading onto the B6369 to Gifford. Turn left at Gifford Church, continue on and take the first left onto the B6370 for 2 miles and take the right signposted for Garvald. Carfrae is signposted at the entrance to Garvald and is one mile along the road on your right.
