Details

Enjoy our luxury interiors and wild exteriors with self-catering accommodation either in a city apartment or in a country cottage and a fascinating full day guided walking tour in the Lammermuir Hills. The Lammermuir Hills are a perfect secluded location for families and friends, where kids burst with excitement with the vast open spaces and, adults can relax and recharge their batteries with plenty of fresh air.

The Route

Harestone Hill to Lammer Law via Hopes Reservoir

The walks offer a breath taking sense of space and isolation, in this vast rolling massif, and reveal a hidden landscape with a remarkable natural and human story to tell.

The routes pass ancient drove roads, and allow a vivid appreciation of today’s grouse moors, with their buzzards, game and mountain hares – against a spectacular backdrop over East Lothian and the Firth of Forth, and across the Borders to the Cheviots.

A climb to Harestone Hill (504m) and loop to Peat Law, for dramatic views of East Lothian and the Firth of Forth, descending to Hopes Reservoir (south bank) to access Sting Bank Valley for an ascent of Lammer Law (527m). Vistas across the Pentland Hills and Scottish Borders, returning via Hopes Reservoir (north bank).

(Height climbed 591m / 1942ft ; distance 15 km / 9.3 miles.)

The Accommodation

You can choose to stay in luxury self-catering accommodation in one of our country cottages where you can soak in the bath, relax by the wood burning stove, listen to the birdsong in the gardens and feel invigorated with a couple of nights of food, fun and frolic under the stars in our very special secluded corner. Or have the best of both worlds and stay in luxury self-catering accommodation in one of our city centre apartments in Edinburgh where you can soak up the city and all it has to offer after a truely invigorating experience in the country.
