Details

Scotland is an amazing myco-tourism destination, boasting a vast resource of woodlands and other habitats where one can discover the wonderful diversity of Caledonian fungi.

We are very proud to be collaborating with Nev Kilkenny, a Research Associate at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh and a Consultant field mycologist – to the uninitiated that’s the biology of Fungi – basically, what Nev doesn’t know about fungi isn’t worth knowing!  Nev is also a keen forager and is passionate about sharing his knowledge of the plants that surround us, he leads many forays throughout the year and is happy to discuss which species are considered the best edibles, and the dangers of collecting those that aren’t! Explore the important role fungi play in the functioning of life on our planet and in our own everyday lives.

The Event

Go on a foraging foray for plants and fungi around the farm woodland or a local area (depending on the time of year) with Nev and discover local fungi and seasonal plants, learn how to identify the species that you will encounter, discuss their function in the ecosystem and learn about their culinary, practical and medicinal uses.  You might even be able to find something for your supper!

The Accommodation

Stay in one of our charming country cottages where you can coorie in and relax in front of the wood burning stove or have a seriously sumptuous soak after your outdoor adventures.  Or mix it up and make your way to Edinburgh, only a 40 minute drive from the farm, and stay in one of our luxury city centre apartments.
