Accessibility at Carfrae Farm

At Carfrae Farm, we are committed to making our farm shop and holiday cottages as welcoming and accessible as possible. We understand that clear information helps guests plan with confidence, so below you’ll find helpful details about what to expect before you arrive and during your visit.

Before You Arrive

Parking & Outdoor Access

  • Ample parking is available directly in front of the Farm Shop.
  • Guests are welcome to drop off passengers at the Farm Shop entrance or at the Snug entrance before parking.
  • Accessible toilets are located behind the Snug.
  • The holiday cottages are a short walk from the Farm Shop and Snug. If you would like specific measurements for a particular cottage, please get in touch.
  • Carfrae Farm is a working farm in a rural setting. Some outdoor areas include gravel surfaces, uneven ground in places, and natural terrain.

During Your Visit

Farm Shop, Snug & Toilets

  • Step-free access via ramp into the Farm Shop.
  • Wide doorways and spacious aisles for ease of movement whilst shopping.
  • Accessible toilet available with grab rail supports. Please note there is a small step into the toilets. If you require specific details, please contact us before you visit.
  • Clear signage throughout the site.
  • Staff are always available if you need assistance.

Outdoor Areas

  • Paths around the shop, cottages and farm are mostly firm, though some areas have uneven ground and gravel. We recommend appropriate outdoor footwear when exploring at Carfrae.
  • Main routes are generally firm, though some areas may be less suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Weather conditions can also affect ground surfaces.

Holiday Cottages

  • Stravaig Cottage is the most suitable cottage for guests with mobility considerations.
  • There is a step at the front door to access the cottage.
  • The cottage includes a downstairs bedroom and shower & toilet. Please note there is a small threshold step into the shower.

Sensory Considerations

  • Carfrae Farm is a working farm, and there may be typical farm-related sights, sounds and smells during your visit.
  • From time to time, guests may hear machinery in operation, livestock noises, or general day-to-day farm activity.
  • The Farm Shop and Snug may become busier at certain times of the day.
  • Quieter areas are available for guests who would prefer a calmer space.
  • If you have specific sensory or accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance and we will do our very best to accommodate you and help you plan your visit comfortably.
